A Pleasurable Prestbury Walk To & From The Royal Oak Inn
A note from us here at The Royal Oak We hope you enjoy this walk, we took our son Johnny on it (aged 3 +) so it can be done by friends and families alike. We are OPEN ALL DAY everyday and serve lunch and dinner daily.  We serve food all day Sunday so you can pop in before or after your walk.  However, it would be wise to book ahead.

A Walk Around Prestbury ~ 3.5miles, 1 + hours
Start the walk with your back to The Royal Oak and walk to the Right along The Burgage. You will pass a large house on your left, formerly a hotel, and you will pass some beautiful thatched cottages on the opposite side of the road.

At the end of The Burgage turn Left at the T junction onto Tatchley Lane and follow the path round to the Left (past the roundabouts) and on into Deep Street, passing the Three Queens and the trio of stone cottages.

This route takes you into the village High Street. Just before the Kings Arms turn Left on a footpath to the Church. Turn Right just before the church and follow the path through the church yard out onto Mill Street, opposite The Plough Inn.

Turn Right onto Mill Street and follow the road to the main road. Turn Left at the junction and after 100 yards take the stile on the opposite side of the road. Once in the field cross it (on a left diagonal) to another stile Once you’ve crossed the stile, follow the track ahead of you that goes slightly left, (not into the Industrial Estate). Where it goes right, cross a stile in front of you. Cross the next field heading slightly to the right to another stile. Go over this field and head for Queen’s Wood ahead of you.

Stay Left of the Woods. Where you cross a track enter the next field. Where the woods start to climb, continue straight on through the bushes to a bridle gate. Walk on along the woodland path and then turn left downhill to the main road.

Ahead you will see The Ellenborough Park Hotel, a medieval building. Cross the road and turn right. Take the next Left into Old Road and then Left again into Southam Lane. After 200 yards turn Left along a track. Go through the gate and the kissing gate beyond it into a field.

Head across the field keeping to the left, (The Ellenborough Park will be on your left). Follow the path across a series of paddocks, styles and gates until you cross a final stile amid bushes in the corner. The next stile is a bridge.

Continue on into the next field, (hedge on your right) and on to a kissing gate. Pass through and follow the path until you meet Shaw Green Lane. Cross over the road and follow the footpath that passes between houses. Eventually you will arrive in Mill Street opposite the Church.

Turn Right to walk past The Priory and follow the road round to meet the cross roads of The Burgage. Turn left here and you will see The Royal Oak + a well earned pint!
